Bright Words
for StarWatch, Part 1
Dear Editor,
I enjoy reading Evergreen Monthly, fresh off the rack at the top of every month. The letter in the September issue, praising the magazine as a whole and then asking you to eliminate the “flaky” horoscope tucked in the back, made me shake my head.
James Jarvis’ work (“StarWatch”) as practical and straightforward as the best astrologers out there, and if the letter-writer would actually read the feature, he might see that.
Please consider reprinting the following online article by Eric Francis, “How Could It Possibly Work?” for your readers. The link is http://planetwaves.net/astrology/horoscopes.html
Astrology, like all the other therapeutic and spiritual models out there, is an internal toolkit facilitating both internal and external change.
Thank you,

Bright Words
for StarWatch, Part 2
Dear Evergreen Monthly,
Cut James Jarvis’ “StarWatch?” No, no, no!
Silly fluff this is not, though I admit disappointment when the format changed to partial text/partial horoscope. Jarvis’ take on planetary transits and interrelationships is not “fluff.”
Perhaps “Dave” (Letters to the Editor, Sept.) couldn’t understand the material–who knows? Doesn’t matter.
Even if one has no belief in astrology as a source of personal and interpersonal insights, how can a phrase from Jarvis like “notice if you accommodate the needs of others at the expense of yourself” be anything but useful?
If anything, I’d wish for more the transit/conjunction text and less “horoscope.” But please do not cut this column!
Thank you for being,
