Tap Your Inner Teacher
By James Jarvis, M.A.
The universal year 2004 resonates with the frequency of the number 6, (2+0+0+4) = 6. The themes for this year are harmony, balance and compassion. The 6 year asks us to tune into how we can be of service to others through expressing the healing power of love and compassion.
Take some time this year to work on beautifying your environment. This is a great year to pay attention to your body and its needs including exercise, nutrition and rest/relaxation.
Jan. 3 Tap Your Inner Teacher. Jupiter in Virgo goes retrograde from Jan. 3 through May 4. The Jupiter retrograde, lasting about 4 months, is a time to tap into your own inner teacher. The sign and house placement of Jupiter in your chart not only refers to where you get the greatest expansion of your own consciousness (where you teach yourself) but indicates what you naturally wish to teach others. When I share this perspective with my clients they often are not aware that they naturally teach others all the time with their Jupiter skills.
A powerful way to utilize this Jupiter retrograde is to visualize the ways you are already sharing your wisdom with others. I’ll give you key words for each of the signs Jupiter falls in. If you don’t know what sign your Jupiter falls in look it up in an astrological ephemeris. These keys words, then, represent what you want to learn and what you naturally teach others either formally or informally: Aires/Empowerment, Taurus/Embodiment, Gemini/Communication, Cancer/Assimilation, Leo/Spontaneity, Virgo/Discernment, Libra/Balance, Scorpio/Depth, Sagittarius/Inspiration, Capricorn/Manifestation, Aquarius/Reformation, Pisces/Transcendence.
Jan. 3-6 Transcend Your Will. Mars in Aries is in a positive relationship with Neptune in Aquarius January 3-6. Mars/Neptune asks us to transcend or surrender our will so that we can be guided by spirit. In terms of world issues it is a good indication of negotiated surrender. Personally, we are being Mars/Neptune to learn how to manifest strong will without attachment to the results.
Jan. 7 Nurture the Nurturer. This month the full Moon is very much at home in the sign of Cancer, the symbol of the Great Mother. The focus this month is discovering what we need for nurturing and comfort. Spend some time by or in the water (preferably hot), this month. Examine your needs for being dependent on others. Is it really hard for you to ask for help? Do you go out of your way to look independent so you don’t have to acknowledge you dependence needs? Open yourself to the nurturing influence of “the Mother” this month; you might be surprised at how she is always close to you through a myriad of helpful friends and loved ones!
Jan. 14 Focus on Strategy. Mercury journeys through the sign of Capricorn from Jan. 14-Feb. 7. Mercury in Capricorn activates our left brain abilities of logical, sequential and linear thought. With Mercury in Capricorn your ability to focus on strategy will be enhanced and you will probably find it easier to map out what steps you will need to take to manifest your goals. Or it may be that at this time you will be able to more clearly focus your mind on what your actual goals are. This is a great time to accomplish a lot particularly if the focus is on writing, speaking or any form of communication.
Use this time to get linear, logical and organized! Mercury in Capricorn helps you focus your mind in a systematic way. If attention to details or making lists is a problem for you, this transit can help.
Jan. 20 Share Your Brilliance. Aquarians want to be on the cutting edge of what is next for the planet. Unfortunately, though, they are often misunderstood as they are usually far ahead of their times and often seen as quite eccentric. With the Sun in Aquarius we have the opportunity to heal our wounds around alienation or not fitting in.
Jan. 21 Practice Detachment. The new moon at 1 degree Aquarius brings in a new cycle of growth and awareness this month. Relationships, in particular, will be affected by this event as the moon represents what we need for emotional security. The new moon in Aquarius calls us to learn emotional detachment without abandoning our partners.
Jan, 28-29 Find Your Passion. Venus in Pisces is in a challenging relationship to Jupiter in Virgo. The Venus/Jupiter aspects put the focus on getting in touch with your desires and needs for physical and emotional nurturing in your relationships. If you are not really expressing and getting your needs met in these areas, including just getting out and having fun together, then these powerful energies can give you an opportunity to express greater joy and passion within the relationship. It’s also a good time to be physically active, participating in activities that you love whether you are in an intimate relationship or not.
