A Very Psychic New Year
What five local intuitive practitioners see for the year ahead. Be ready for some surprises
By ELKE MACARTNEY
It’s officially a New Year, a time when our thoughts naturally turn to the future. For centuries, humanity has beseeched oracles, seers and prophets to let us in on what is to be, so we can prepare and gear up.
The prophets answered as best as possible using the tools at hand: intuitive visions or sounds, angels forewarning or foretelling, celestial hints from the dance of the planets through the constellations.
As a person who’s had prophetic visions and dreams since childhood, I find it daunting to know events in advance. What possible good could it do? Over the years, I’ve discovered that what prophecies say about the future is less important than what prophecies have to say about the present.
Prophecies can point to the areas in life that are working well and are on track. But they also point to those areas that could sorely use attention.
Psychic warnings can offer us the opportunity to get centered and prepare for possible eventualities. For instance, the Y2K predictions brought about changes in community building and disaster preparedness that benefit us today.
Panic often ensues when fearful visions are laid out. Yet a test of our spiritual strength and human capability to change comes when we try to create a better future than the one predicted.
Embarking upon a New Year with new challenges plus long-standing issues—money, presidential elections, weather, love —Evergreen Monthly turns to five modern-day prognosticators. (In numerological terms, five is the number of change.)
Each person is a working intuitive practitioner, including three spiritual seers, an astrologer and a trance channeller who speaks with angels.
They were basically given the same arenas to take a peek at: Economic trends, political results in an election year, scientific or health discoveries, earth changes, weather patterns and general consciousness trends. They each went inward or upward or meditated or scanned charts, then came up with the following predictions.
Nancy Kahn, astrologer
Nancy began her spiritual search with a pilgrimage to India in the 1970s. Upon her return to the States, she was fired from a job and decided to become a professional astrologer. Her predictions were made by looking at the birth chart of the U.S.A. and other planetary charts:
This will begin on a rocky note, with great push/pull energy in many areas. We can pin this trend on a transiting Mars squaring a transiting Saturn. This frustration and possible anger in the population will color the entire year. People everywhere will be concerned with either maintaining the status quo or moving forward. Her advice is to move forward with caution, organization and preparation.
In relationships and partnerships, impatience is a major theme. It will be an important year to balance the personal with the professional—not an easy task.
This is a good year to contribute to financial security if you can. The economy will remain depressed, but there will be some small new steps to assist the economy.
Many criticisms of the president will be heard in this election year.
Scientifically, there will be more energy put into developing automobiles that are hybrids requring less gas and oil. All of the large automakers will either think and make plans about transforming their fleet or resist transformation all together.
Creativity is another watchword for the year, as there will be more innovations in the entertainment industry and on the Internet. In September, there may be a large criticism of the media as a tool for manipulation and control, and a push for accountability in all mass media.
Dolly Mae, intuitive counselor and lecturer
Dolly’s spiritual journey began with a financial disaster of the grandest order: After18 years as a successful businesswoman, she had to declare bankruptcy to the tune of 25 million dollars. After asking the requisite question: “Why?” she was led to a spiritual teacher who told her to, “Choose joy, drink plenty of water and stay in the now.”
This year will see a furthering of polarization into camps of thought. The value of polarity is that it can offer a new perspective that kicks people out of the gray area.
In the world of health care, the amount of people turning to natural health and alternative care will double over the next five years. This will be a direct result of people’s continuing disenchantment with allopathic medicine’s limitations.
There are patches of disease and disharmony where people might choose to “leave” as a group. There will be no deaths on a massive scale.
In politics, Americans will continue pursuing the issue of light versus dark until people say “Wait a minute, this isn’t working! Why still do it?” By the end of 2004, the Iraq situation will be revealed as one of the biggest scams in history.
She sees wetter weather in the Southeast, but even more weather changes and extremes in the middle states. The weather will be an indication of regional emotional patterns. The Northwest will be status quo in comparison.
John Skyrman, psychic consultant
John has come back to life twice in his life: At nine months of age, both of his parents were killed in a car accident, his life was spared and he ended up with psychic ability. At the age of 12, he had a near-death experience in a water skiing accident. This close encounter seemed to anchor his gifts. Add in a mystical Cherokee grandpa, and you have a lifetime intuitive.
When John tunes in, he sees movies in his mind.
The Iraq situation will be getting worse, another Vietnam brewing. (When asked if this could possibly be the start of World War III, John answered no, not that bad, but there will be a definite escalation in the Middle East.)
The rich will get richer and the poor poorer for the first seven months. In August into September there will be a huge economic shakeup, and more money will be put into the hands of the “have-nots”.
Meanwhile, as more and more industrial jobs are farmed out to third world countries, people in the U.S. will turn to entrepreneurship. A large company in Chicago will collapse, sending shock waves into the corporate world.
Global consciousness will flourish. There will be a few holdouts, mainly dictatorships. Cuba might see the end of Castro’s reign this year. The U.S. and Cuba will quickly re-establish their friendship
More dramatic weather patterns will be noticed worldwide. Mt. Rainier will remain fairly stable, but the south end of South America will see large quakes and tsunamis, as will Japan.
Health discoveries will include a breakthrough in stem cell research for spinal cord injuries and other issues. The cells used will be coming from the patients’ own bodies. Talk about healing coming from within!
Valerie Kraft, psychic advisor
In her religious upbringing, Valerie thought everyone prayed directly to God, and God directly answered with words. It was later in her life that she realized that most people” just prayed to the sky, hoping for some kind of answer.”
After psychic readings by the famous Sylvia Brown, plus another psychic, Valerie realized she was indeed a clairaudient/clairvoyant—when she asks her guides, she receives answers, in words and movies. The following predictions are mainly for those on a spiritual path:
In 2004, we will take what we have learned over the past few years and put the principles into practice. We’ll be walking the talk
This year will bring balance to personal finances. While very few of us will win the Lotto, most will feel more in control of finances because of personal diligence.
Family will be a huge theme this year. Valerie believes many messy, emotional family issues will be resolved.
Globally, the power figures that have puffed themselves up over the past year will feel like they’ve made their points. Yet, the end of 2004 will see a resurgence of power plays for dominance.
Take advantage of an economy that will continue to grow, because by 2006 into 2007 this illusion will crumble. Better “make hay while the sun shines.”
Zara, angelic messenger
Zara has been doing readings since she was 16 years old. As a child, she heard what people were thinking. As a long-time student of Paramahansa Yogananda, her meditation practice opened her up to the angelic voices. The voice that brings her the most wisdom is of the Archangel Michael.
For her answers, she prays, and then enters a light trance:
Archangel Michael responded that no worldwide earth changes would be taking place this year. Although the Arctic Ice Cap is melting, the year will bring no significant earthquake activity in the Puget Sound region. While weather patterns will increasingly be strange and unpredictable, the weather here will remain relatively mild.
The “cultural creative” community of the Pacific Northwest will come together in new ways as they feel attacked by those with different belief systems. Strongly feeling both enthusiasm and anger will cause significantly higher energy levels. Archangel Michael reminds us that sometimes conflict is necessary and there is a reason he is shown with the Sword of Righteousness.
The economy will continue changing. Just as soon as the larger companies lay off and downsize, the New Age/Cultural Creatives will decide to find more emotionally rewarding work without having to punch a time clock.
Scientific studies will demonstrate the benefits of complementary and alternative health care practices. This will be the year when mainstream medicine will open its doors to what we already know works.
